TODAY’S SCRIPTURE VERSE: And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  Luke 12:22

In this passage of scripture Jesus declares that our life is to be one of total submission. The "therefore" here is in reference to the rich man whose ground brought forth plentifully, and his declaration to himself, (soul thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.). Hear the word of the Lord to this selfish man (Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?). Notice the selfishness of this man contrasted with the selflessness of Christ’s words (Take no thought for your life). To take no thought for one’s life one must deny himself and acknowledge God in His rightful estate, that is (thou shalt have no other gods) including self before him. Christ declares (For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.) therefore let us seek him that we may find our life in Him!
